Carlos Arce, Ana Isabel Portilla y Alberto Coz have participated in the last meeting (48th month meeting) of the BRIGIT European Project “New tailor-made biopolymers produced from lignocellulosic sugars waste for highly demanding fire-resistant applications', in Torino, Italy. BRIGIT aims to develop a cost-competitive and environmentally friendly continuous process to produce biopolymers (polyhydroxybutyrate, PHB, and succinate-based biopolyesters, PBS-Poly-Butylene-Succinate) from waste-derived lignocelullosic sugar feedstock liquor of wood sulphite pulping process. 16 partners from 11 countries participate in the project. The meeting was placed in Bath, UK, from 24th to 25th, January, 2016.  http://www.brigit-project.eu/

In addition to the BRIGIT meeting, Alberto Coz has attended the Conference “BioEnergy 2016” in Rome and he has presented the oral contribution “Characterisation of spent sulfite liquor and its valorisation using Aspen Plus® simulation software” by Alberto Coz, Carlos Arce, Ana I Portilla, Cristina Rueda and Gema Ruiz, from the GER research group and the collaboration of Juan M. Romero-García and Eulogio Castro from the Universidad de Jaén. http://bioenergy.conferenceseries.com/2016
